Welder stabs carpenter to death in Kogi

Tragedy struck at a popular drinking spot by Amusement Park, in Lokoja metropolis, as a welder, Murtala Dare, at the late hours of Sunday night, killed one carpenter and father of two, Lukman Kabiru.
Dare was said to have allegedly stabbed Lukman on the neck, where the deceased died on the spot.
According to an eye witness account, the ugly incident occured at about 11:00 pm, when Dare reportedly wanted to fight a call girl for taking a customer behind a building, close to his shop for short service.
The intervention by Lukman, who was serving as peacemaker, to stop Dare from being violent, angered Dare, who allegedly broke a bottle and stabbed Lukman Kabiru.
Dare and Lukman as neighbours, owned shop opposite the notorious drinking spot where call girls used the back for short time. Dare is allegedly said to be collecting fee for the use of the open space for short time.
Confirming the incident, the Kogi State spokesman of the police command, William Ayah disclosed that Dare was arrested in his hideout at the back of Total Filling Station, in Lokoja metropolis.
According to the PPRO, investigation into the matter is on, even as he dispelled the rumour making the rounds, that the suspect had been killed by angry mob.
