From Uche Nnorom, Makurdi

Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Titus Uba, has said that no amount of money will make members of the state legislative house, especially the twenty two members, popularly known as G-22, to work against the interest of the state.
Uba also said the House, under his leadership, is ready to lift suspension on the opposition eight members if they showed remorse, retracted their negative comments and indicated interest to work for the development of the state.
The Speaker who made this known during a parley with newsmen in his Makurdi residence, noted that as elected representatives of the people, it was only good that they worked in unison and in line with aspirations of the people who voted them into office.
He said the turn of event in the House of Assembly is historic in the annals of Nigerian politics as it is the first time PDP as a minority party in the assembly will suddenly became a majority and still give him the position, while he was still in the APC.
According to him, what was happening in the state, especially the State Assembly was a struggle on how to save the soul of Benue and not necessarily politically motivated.
He said “This kind of thing to the best of my knowledge never happened in this country, where the Speaker will be impeached and the majority will still give Speakership to the minority.
“This has now clearly shown that power in this state has become a struggle, we are not looking at acronyms, we are not looking at sentiments, we are looking at how we can come together and save the soul of Benue state.
“We are working together in unity irrespective of political affiliations for the overall interest of the state. The 22 members on my side are intact, and nothing on this earth is going to shake us.
