WHO making effort at getting suitable Ebola vaccine

The World Health Organization (WHO), has summoned an emergency meeting of health Authorities of member – nations as part of global efforts made towards the discovery of vaccines for the cure of the deadly Ebola virus which is currently ravaging some West African countries.

The meeting which was held last week at Geneva, was aimed at finding lasting solution to the deadly virus, while some vaccines are clinically being evaluated with very high prospect of combating the disease.

Similarly, the Director General of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) Dr. Paul Orhii has said that some Nigerian made vaccines are presently under observation.

In his words “we have some Nigerian remedies that we are looking at very closely and after investigation we hope that they will be able to contain the Ebola virus. So Nigerians do not need to panic.

Orhii said Nigerians abroad have expressed satisfaction on how the federal government had swiftly responded to containing the Ebola diseases in Nigeria even as many countries are now learning from the methods and strategies adopted by Nigeria to combat the Ebola menace.

The NAFDAC DG however warned Nigerians to be observant and careful as some unscrupulous elements have started exploiting the Ebola virus scare to market counterfeit test kits and sanitary products.
