Executive Secretary of Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASHCMA), Dr Mansur Dada has said that the agency was established to help all residents of the state access quality health care services.
Dr Dada stated this yesterday when he received members of Bauchi State Network of Civil Society Organizations (BASNEC) who paid a courtesy visit to the newly established Agency. He said, the agency is being funded through deduction of one percent from civil servants’ salaries was meant to complement the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) by giving those who are not enrolled into the scheme financial access to health services at any hospital of their choice.
He assured that the agency would soon launch a program called State Health Contributory scheme that will cater for all people residing in the state including those in the formal, informal sectors vulnerable persons and their dependents.
Dr Dada said that the agency would liase with organized labour and leaders of market associations to be collecting periodic contributions from their members for the successful implementation of the program.
The executive secretary who promised that vulnerable people such as the poorest ones and those who live with disabilities would access free health services.
Earlier, the chairman of BASNEC Jinjiri Garba commended the state government for its effort towards improving the health sector through establishing the agency.
