Why FG ‘ll adopt COP 28 recommendations to mitigate effect of Climate Change – Director

The Federal Government would adopt all the recommendations advanced during the COPs 28 to mitigate the effect of the prevailing climate change, Director of Social Development at the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Dr Sanjo Faniran has said.
Faniran who made this known last week at the 2023 edition of the Nigeria nutrition week media sensitization on food and nutrition security with the theme: “Climate Change Impact on Food and Nutrition Security” in Abuja while noting that it was the responsibility of all to ensure that every child had the opportunity to survive and thrive, reminded participants that attaining optimal nutritional status for all Nigerians in the face of the ever-challenging Climate Change was a collective responsibility.
His words, “Let us all be reminded that attaining optimal nutritional status for all Nigerians in the face of the ever-challenging Climate Change is our collective responsibility. The Federal Government would adopt all the recommendations advanced during the COPs 28 to mitigate the effect of the prevailing Climate change.
‘In collaboration with the Nutrition Society of Nigeria, the celebration of the Nigeria Week commenced in 2016. And ever since it started in 2016 the week has been successfully celebrated. During the Nutrition Week a lot of activities were set out to create awareness on Nutrition issues in the country” he said.
Speaking on “Climate Change Impact on Food and National Security” Head of Food and Nutrition, Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Chito Nelson quoting World Food Summit 11996 said that achieving food security would be when all people at all times have access to sufficient, safe nutritious food to maintain a healthy and active life.
Also speaking, Focal Person for National Food and Nutrition Media Team, Chris Odhomi who spoke on “Role of the media in promoting Food and Nutrition Security” said the media fill the gap and act as watchdog in ensuring the proper implementation of the various interventions in nutrition circle.
Isaiah Ude of Alive & Thrive (A&T) who spoke on “Nutrition and the Social Media” said the media wields immense influence, shaping narratives and driving public conversations, noting that storytelling prowess, multimedia platforms, and cultural richness, the objective was to ignite conversations, inspire transformation, and foster a healthier, more prosperous Nigeria.
