Frontline politician and women’s rights crusader, Otunba Basirat Nahibi, yesterday stated her intention to dump the All Progressives Congress, APC for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
In a two paragraph letter addressed to the Interim FCT Chairman of APC, Senator Sidi Ali, Otunba Nahibi thanked the party for the opportunity given her to serve.
“My resignation is based on the happenings which are contrary to the projected vision of APC”, she said.
In a telephone chat with our reporter, Otunba Nahibi who was at the fore front of the General Muhammadu Buhari campaign trail in the 2011 general elections under the Congress for Progressives Change, CPC, hinted that she was set to declare for the ruling PDP in the coming weeks.
Although Otunba Basirat Nahibi declined to give further reasons for leaving the APC, a source who spoke under the condition of anonymity said the reasons may not be unconnected to the seeming inability of the APC to aptly acquire its working national secretariat, among other issues.
