The Deputy National Coordinator, North Central Zone of the
Nigerian Youths Movement for Peter Obi and Datti Ahmed (NYMPODA), Lengnen Toshak in this interview with Tobias Lengnan Dapam, said Peter Obi is the change that Nigeria needs, she also speaks on the kind of governance he will bring. Excerpts:
How did you come about this group?
In my quest for a better Nigeria and my desire for a change, not the “change” we are currently experiencing. I found myself on the national platform for Nigerian Youths Movement for Peter Obi (NYMPO), which is now known as Nigerian Youths Movement for Peter Obi and Datti (NYMPOD). As the movement started gathering storms, young men of liked minds joined the train and the agitation for a productive Nigeria is expanding beyond our imagination. It started like a churros but a lot of stanzas have been added to the tune of the music.
Why Peter Obi?
Why Peter Obi? The question to me should rather be, why not Peter Obi? I fear for the great citizens of Nigeria, for the fact that we are getting so comfortable with ‘wahalla’ that we find it hard to see a good thing. If INTEGRITY, SELFLESSNESS, TRANSPARENCY, GOOD GOVERNANCE, INTELLIGENCE, SACRIFICIAL, RESPONSIBLE AND DEPENDABLE is human, then I’ll say that human is PETER OBI.
How would you rate the responses so far?
Is like a tsunami, not a destructive tsunami but a productive one. Toddlers, teenagers, youth and old all ready to imprint their names in this great historical positive change that is about to take place.
Do you think he stands a chance considering structural problems in the states?
What is this structural problem you guys kept lamenting about? Ok agreed, political system structures which are defined by 3 variables; first, according to the principle by which it is ordered; second, by the specifications of the functions of formally differentiated units; and third, by the distribution of capabilities across those units. But why is it that some of these politicians and their blind followers are much more concerned about that definition of “structure “ of what is only required to show how the units of the systems are positioned and arranged than the tradition or culture, most importantly the analysis of the character and personality of the political actors and the description of the making and execution of policy?
Should he emerge victorious, what do you think Nigerians should expect?
Nigerians should be ready to experience what they’ve never experienced before; capacity and efficiency in all public sectors, accountability and transparency. In fact, they should be ready to be on a roller coaster ride of an accelerated economic transition to catch-up with the globalised world. So help us God.
