A non government orgnisation popularly known as Center for Community Action for Peace and Development ( CCAPAD ), has explained the reason behind its action to engage radical minds into capacity training,
youth empowerment and skills acquisition in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau state.
Ahmad Salihu who is the Executive Director of the group said following a research carried out by the group within the seventeen Local Government Area of Plateau state, facts were found that lots of people across communities have engaged in various forms of social vices couple with the realisation that the remnants of Boko Haram growing in silence in many areas which Jos was not an exception.
Salihu made this known during the graduation ceremony of beneficiaries of the project on “Deradicalization of the Radicalized mind” yesterday in capital city of Jos.
He said, “Jos is the starting point. We are in the other LGAs. Our plan is to go round the 17 LGAs. It is an inter-faith center comprising both Christians and Muslims, young and old that brings radicals with alternatives of peaceful and harmonious coexistence.
“We selected 15 radical minds base on the facts we have gathered about them. What we often do is to preach to them what both Christianity and Islam said to enable them understand that non of the religion preaches violence or extremism. We train , mentor and provide them with certain equipment base on the acquired skill, “ he added.
The Director further said, the project was currently training the beneficiaries on Shoe/bag making, tailoring and barbing saloon for Muslims and Christians across Jos North LG of the state.
