Bauchi State Head of Civil Service, Dr. Liman Bello has summoned eleven permanent secretaries and directors of some ministries in the state to report to his office today for failure to report to duty after New Year break.
Dr. Liman Bello who issued the summons yesterday while addressing newsmen in his office shortly after he paid an unscheduled visit to the affected ministries to access the resumption to duty by workers, expressed disappointment with the poor turnout of civil servants to their duty posts.
The Head of Service who began the unscheduled visit by 8:44 in the morning, went round the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Community Relation as well of that of Ministry of Agriculture where only a director and deputy director and some other staff turned out for duty among all the eleven ministries visited.
The Head of Service reaffirmed government’s resolve to ensure due process public service in line with International standard for effective implementation of government’s policies and programmes.
He noted that, the advocacy visit embarked upon by the present administration towards ensuring attitudinal change among the entire civil servants of the state has started yielding positive result, adding that measures would be taken to sustain the tempo.
Dr. Bello called on the civil servants to always justify their salaries by reporting to duty as expected as government is concerned on improving their welfare.
The Permanent Secretaries and Directors summoned are that of Ministries of Rural Development, Women Affairs and Child Development, Work and Transport, Commerce and Industry, Youth and Sports.
Others are that of Information, Culture and Tourism, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Religious Affairs and Community Relation, as well as Agriculture, Water Resources and Cooperatives, Small Medium and Enterprises.
