Why we’ll not deny Buhari – Defunct CPC chairman

A former chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Godwin Erhahon, has vowed not to deny President Muhammadu Buhari or quit the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He explained that the grievances of some Edo APC members threatening to defect to opposition parties “were too personal and selfish to erode his faith in President Buhari”, whom he claimed has “abandoned him and his supporters after toiling with him”.
Recall that Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), All Nigeria Peoples party (ANPP) and a faction of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) fused into APC in a merger arrangement shortly before 2015 general elections.
Erhahon, former publicity Secretary of Edo APC and former State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), made his position known in a statement which was made available to newsmen at the weekend in Benin City, Edo State Capital.
He however admitted that grievances raised by the aggrieved APC members, “to the essence to which they are true, were justified and as such deserve urgent redress”.
Erhahon said he “shares the grievances of those who are protesting the politics of bitterness, exclusion, victimization and blackmail that have recently bedevilled our hitherto united and harmonious APC”.
“But they are, in my opinion, too personal and too selfish to erode our faith in the sincere commitment of President Buhari to salvage Nigeria from the decay to which past leaders have plunged our beloved Country”, he said.
According him, “The above grievances are, to the essence to which they are true, justified and as such deserve urgent redress.
“I equally share the grouse of my associates from the CPC legacy across the country over how President Muhammadu Buhari has abandoned us after years of toiling with him. I hereby assure all that I have no intention to defect from APC”, the statement said.
