In a major move to bolster the FCT’s road network, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate extension of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX).
The project will now stretch an additional 10km from the Ring Road II Junction (Apo) to the Wasa Junction.
The directive was issued during a recent inspection of several high-priority infrastructure projects scheduled for inauguration during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s third-year anniversary celebrations.
The Minister expressed strong satisfaction with the pace of construction, particularly the OSEX bridge being handled by China Geo-Engineering Construction (CGC).
By extending the dual carriageway to Wasa, Wike aims to provide seamless connectivity for residents and complete the city’s arterial loop.
“This is another promise made and another promise fulfilled.
“We want people to be happy that this administration has successfully completed the OSEX carriageway,” told reporters.
Beyond the expressway, the Minister toured several other key sites:Katampe District: Work on Collector Road CN2 is nearly 100% complete, with streetlights and walkways currently being installed.
A major highlight of the tour was the inspection of the Wasa Informal Sector site, the designated relocation point for the Apo Mechanic traders.
The Minister noted that this project, which had been stalled for over a decade, is finally nearing completion. providing the necessary infrastructure for the mechanics is not only a fulfillment of a long-standing government pledge.
