Following the recent success of the newly remodeled Abuja City Gate, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has directed the immediate upgrade of the abandoned recreational garden at the Life Camp Roundabout into a modern leisure and sports hub.
The initiative is part of the FCT Administration’s (FCTA) ongoing push to expand green spaces and enhance the quality of life for residents across the nation’s capital.
Wike directed the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) to treat the redesign as an emergency, bypassing traditional bureaucratic delays to deliver a world-class facility swiftly.
According to him, the park will feature updated sporting infrastructure, leisure zones, and scenic spots designed for daily exercise, family relaxation, and community gatherings.
To guarantee top-tier quality, the FCTA plans to invite reputable firms to submit alternative designs before selecting the winning proposal.
“What we intend to do here is to bring it back and provide modern facilities.
“Citizens want a good life, and they are not asking for too much.
“The administration of President Bola Tinubu is determined to restore hope to our people,” the Minister stated.
The decision to revitalize the Life Camp site comes directly on the heels of national acclaim for the Abuja City Gate project.
Commissioned during President Bola Tinubu’s third anniversary in office, the revitalized City Gate recently earned the FCTA an award and special commendation from First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu under her Renewed Hope Initiative’s Green Nigeria Challenge.
Wike noted that the First Lady’s vision transformed the City Gate into a thriving day-and-night attraction, proving the value of strategic public investments and inspiring further urban renewal.
In addition to park developments, Wike revealed plans to align Abuja with major global capitals by hosting an official annual New Year’s fireworks display at the City Gate, kicking off at the end of this year.
