Witchcraft allegation: 32-year old lady commits suicide in Bauchi

The dead body of a thirty-two year-old lady, named Katherine Zamani was found hanging on a branch of a tree, in Bar village of Bogoro local government area in Bauchi state, for alleged accusations of witchcraft leveled against her by people of the village

Our correspondent gathered that the residents of Bar village yesterday woke-up with shock as they found the body of the lady hanging on a three. As early as 7 am people stormed the tree where the lady committed suicide by hanging herself on the tree branch, to catch glimpse of the lady.

It was revealed that the lady got married twice and all her husbands died and she was accused of being a witch and decided to end the controversy by committing suicide through hanging .

However, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Haruna Mohammed confirmed the incident , saying that a councilor representing Bar Ward in Bogoro local government, Mr. Emmanuel Madaki reported the incident to Bogoro police station, which gave the name of the deceased as Katherine Zamani of about 32 years.

He added that Mr. Madaki told the police that the incident occurred at about 6:23 am and that the lady hanged herself on a branch of a tree.

According to him, the police rushed her to general hospital, Bogoro where she was confirmed dead by medical doctors, and that, they are still investigating the cause of the lady’s death by hanging.

Meanwhile, some of the residents said they don’t know her very well but believed that her action may not be unconnected with frustration of life and disappointment from a lover.

Some wondered why such a pretty lady hanged herself, saying she may have been killed and hanged on the tree by either her enemies or she actually committed the suicide.
