Members of the Tinubu/Shettima Support groups, Bauchi State chapter, have warned President Ahmed Bola Tínubu that if the ministerial appointment to the state is allowed to stand, it will destroy the goodwill All Progressive Congress (APC) enjoys in Bauchi.

In a statement signed by Comrade Shehu Yusuf, Comrade yohanna Ezekiel, Alhaji Dauda Isah, Alhaji Mohammed Nasiru and Alhaji Bala Yusha’u Abdullahi, who are APC members in Bauchi, the group said those who truly laboured for the success of the party in the State have been left out by the President in the appointment.

In the statement titled ‘Ministerial appointments: Matters arising’, the Tínubu/Shettima Support group said “We the undersigned members of the Tinubu/Shettima support groups, in Bauchi State wish to draw the attention of our dear President, Ahmed Tinubu, to what we consider a threat to the stability of our great party in Bauchi State.”

They said the ministerial nominee was not among those who spent time and resources before and during the 2023 election, which the party won convincingly at the national level.

“Infact, the vote you missed in the state during primaries was from one of the nominees you now nominated as a minister to the amazement of the state loyal APC family.

“Even at the primaries election ground, he reiterated that whoever voted for Tinubu should not expect anything from him, because his money is only for Amechi, not for anybody and that he knows that Amechi will win, and he kept reiterating that his nomination is not from Tinubu.

“There are leaders who held our party together when the nominees were clearly working against our collective interest.

“Their anti-party activities contributed greatly to the electoral setback in the state during the governorship election, which we are challenging the results before the tribunal.

“We plead with Mr. President to take another look at this issue, so that loyal party members will not be discouraged from giving their best to the party going forward”, the group told President Tínubu in the statement.

However, they commended the President for showing courage and a sense of urgency by abiding by the constitutional requirement of submitting a list of nominees for ministerial appointments that will help him deliver on the party’s manifesto and his campaign promises.

“It is clear that our President means well but we were shocked to say the least by the choice of nominees from our state”, the group said.
