The International Women group popularly known as Stand-up for Women Society (SWS) Presented an award of excellence to Jigawa state governor Malam Umar Namadi, for his tireless effort in curbing Gender- Based Violence (GBV) and women empowerment.
The group also commended the governor for his commitment to gender equality, equity and inclusiveness as well as supporting women to remain self reliance.
Speaking shortly after the presentation of the award in government house Dutse, the President of the Standup for Women Society (SWS) International, Deborah Ijadele-Adetona thanked the governor for being gender sensitive and for giving more chance to women in his administration
The President of the organization who was represented by the International Administrative Officer, Liberator Timinepere Jombo Idoko said, the award was given to the governor during the International conference of Standup for Women Society held in Imo state.
She stated that the SWS is an organization that struggle and advocate for gender parity, promotion of the rights of women and the girl-child, and the entrenchment of intrinsic family values to help family institutions grow, stabilize and progress.
