WoodHall president commends Tinubu’s economic reforms

The President of WoodHall Capital Group, Mrs Mojisola Hunponu-Wusu, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his economic team for their ongoing efforts to reform Nigeria’s economy and support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Speaking to LEADERSHIP on the sidelines of the Regional Conference on Factoring, Receivables Finance and Credit Insurance in Africa, organised by AfreximBank in Abuja, Hunponu-Wusu said while significant progress has been made, more work remains.

“If I had the opportunity to speak with the President, I’d commend him and his economic team for all the work they’re doing,” she said.

 “It’s not easy. We shouldn’t just sit back and criticise.”

The investment leader noted that much of the government’s efforts may not be immediately visible to all Nigerians.

“There’s a lot going on – some you might see, others you may not. But the work is being done,” she added, pointing out the Central Bank’s active participation at the conference as a positive indicator.

Despite her praise, Hunponu-Wusu emphasised that further reforms are necessary.

 “There’s a lot more work to be done,” she said.

She also highlighted WoodHall Capital Group’s willingness to collaborate with the federal government.

“We want to be seen as partners, not just commentators. That’s the attitude we’ve adopted, and I am certainly available to engage.”

Turning to the broader national discourse, Hunponu-Wusu urged Nigerians to take more responsibility rather than placing blame solely on government and institutions.

“It’s so easy to point fingers at the government or the private sector. But really, the government is you and I,” she said.

 “We are the ones to effect solutions.”

She revealed that her firm, alongside Elevate Africa, has resolved to play an active role in testing and implementing SME-related initiatives.

“It’s been a long time coming, but we’ve decided to step forward and be counted. If not us, then who?” she said.
