Kaduna State Governor, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero has tasked members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to stop internal wrangling that will destabilize the party saying all aspirants are free to contest positions of their choice.

Speaking when stakeholders of the party from the 23 Local Government Areas of the State paid Sallah homage to the State Government House, the Governor said members of the party should remain united towards ensuring resounding victory for the party at all levels.

Yero said “most of the problem is from within the party; let me make it clear that I have not endorsed any member for any position. All members of the party are free to contest whatever position they are interested, in the end only the will of God Almighty shall prevail.”

Leaders of the PDP from all the 23 LGAs also used the medium to unanimously endorse the Governor to contest on the platform of the party in 2015.

Leading delegation from Jema’a LGA, Senator Babale Maikarfi said “our local government has been a stronghold of the PDP since 1999, I want to assure you that the same people that voted overwhelmingly for the party in 2011 are the same people that are going to vote in 2015. We are promising you massive support in 2015.”

Also speaking on behalf of delegation from Zangon Kataf LGA, Barrister Kantiok said the people of Southern Kaduna have no alternative to PDP adding that “you may hear comments from here and there in zone three but in 2015 Zangon Kataf as the LGA with highest vote will lead the way and others will follow.”

Kantiok assured the Governor of massive support in Southern Kaduna in the 2015 governorship election saying the zone has benefitted immensely from its support of the PDP since 1999.

In his response, Yero cautioned politicians in zone three not to derail from supporting PDP as that could reduce the democracy dividends and appointments that the zone has benefitted since 1999.

“We are all in PDP, let us be patient and united irrespective of our interests. No effort will give us victory without unity within the party.

“It is important for zone three to remain strongly in the party because once we abandon the party; it will be difficult to benefit from what we have gained in the zone.”
