Yobe disburses relief materials to internally displaced persons

Yobe state government, through the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has distributed relief materials to internally displaced persons settling in Dumbulwa town, in Fika local government area of the state.

Speaking during the occasion, which took place at the premises of the state’s ministry of works in Damaturu, the state capital, the Executive Secretary of the agency, Alhaji Musa Idi Didawa expressed sympathy for the plight of the victims, adding that the relief materials were meant to help them settle down and carry on normal life.

He said the victims were people displaced from Gonori and Gujba areas of the state, as a result of several attacks by insurgents in those areas.

He urged the victims to consider the situation as temporary as he pointed out that Allah will soon bring an end to the situation.

Also speaking, the state commissioner for health, Dr. Bello Kawuwa and the special adviser on legislative matters to Governor, Dr. Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, Barrister Aliyu Shehu commended the state governor for coming to the assistance of the victims, while praying that Allah will reward him abundantly and also bring an end to the insurgency.

Items distributed include ten bags of rice and millet respectively, five jerry cans of cooking oil, five bags each of magi and salt.

Others include 50 pieces of Shadda brocades and wrappers, mattresses and mats, detergents, kettles, plastic buckets and cups.
