Yobe State Commissioner of Works, Engineer Umar Wakil Duddaye said the ministry has recorded tremendous achievements in the provision of key infrastructures in the state in 2024.
The commissioner, who briefed journalists on the achievements of the ministry, said the Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration has demonstrated exceptional commitment to the growth of the state.
He listed the major roads projects completed within the year to include the 25 kilometre Damaturu-Kalallawa Dual Carriageway at the cost of N1.6 billion; Jajimaji-Karasuwa Road at the cost of N2 billion; the 10km Chumbusko -Tagali road constructed at the cost of N3.3 billion; and Damagum Township roads and drainage completed at the cost of N530 million.
Others are the 2.6km Potiskum township roads, N582 million; Jajimaji township road and drainage, N788 million; and rehabilitation of Biriri -Babbangida road along Damaturu-Gashua road, N98.6 million.
“The rehabilitation of the road from Katarko to Goniri, including stratification, earthworks, and construction of culverts in Gujba LGA at the cost N62.8m, repairs carried out on the road from Buni Yadi to Buni Gari in Gujba LGA at the cost of N69.8m.
“Earthworks constructed to approach Kayayya bridge in Geidam LGA for N294m; also the Kayayya bridge triple box culvert was constructed at Kayayya in Geidam LGA, for N32,854,054.70.
“Bukar Abba Ibrahim estate asphalting of the entrance along Potiskum road, for N93m.”
