Yobe govt expends N4.1bn as a palliative for workers

In response to the current hardship arising from the fuel subsidy removal, Yobe state government said it will expend N4.1 billion as palliative to workers and pensioners in the state.
Governor Mai Mala Buni has recently approved the payment of N699,450,000 as palliative for both civil servants and pensioners on the payroll of the state and local governments on a monthly basis.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the Chief Information Officer, Office of the Head of Service, Alhassan Sule Mamudo.
The statement revealed that the sum of N10,000 for civil servants and N5,000 for pensioners for a period of six months, which commenced last month in February.
He said the cumulative total shall be in the sum of N4.1billion.
The monthly standing payment for gratuity was recently revised from N100 million to N200 million. Similarly, a sum of N708 million was recently released for the payment of gratuities for local government retirees.
