Yobe Govt Partners Russian Company to Power Agro-Industrial Zone
The Yobe State Government and a Russian investment company, ‘Legion Investment Moscow’, have commenced discussions on the establishment of gas-powered electricity generation plants to secure reliable and sustainable energy for the state Agro-Industrial Zone.
The Russian team on Monday visited Governor Mai Mala Buni ahead of the technical engagements and field inspection for the project.
The team led by Mr. Leonid Khasiev was accompanied by the company’s technical consultant, Mr. Rasim Azimov.
He said, “the delegation is in the state to inspect the proposed project sites, assess the technical and investment requirements, and engage relevant authorities towards the proposed energy solution for the Agro-Industrial Zone.”
The proposed gas-powered plant is intended to provide a stable and dependable source of electricity to support agro-processing, manufacturing, storage, cold-chain facilities, and other businesses expected to operate within the Agro-Industrial Zone.
The engagement forms part of Yobe State’s broader efforts to transform the agricultural sector from predominantly primary production into a more integrated system encompassing production, aggregation, processing, storage, logistics, and market access.
Gov. Buni said the partnership would enhance Yobe State’s growing efforts to attract international investors and strategic technical partners capable of supporting the state’s development priorities.
He appreciated Legion Investment Moscow for its interest in Yobe State and looks forward to constructive engagements that could contribute to the realization of the Agro-Industrial Zone and creating opportunities for jobs, value addition, industrial development and increased investment in the agricultural sector.
“Yobe state remains committed to building strategic partnerships that will unlock the economic potential of its agricultural resources and position the state as an attractive destination for agro-industrial investment,” Gov. Buni said.
