A 15-year-old Rukayya Muhammad Fema from Yobe State has emerged overall best in debate at the 2025 TeenEagle Global finals competition in London, the United Kingdom.
Rukayya who represented Nigeria at the competition is a JSS 3 student of the Nigerian Tulip International Colleges (NTIC) Mamudo hailed from Ngelzarma, Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The story of her victory was confirmed by the Principal of the college, Mr Haseebullah Jogi who accompanied the students to London.
“Indeed, Rukayya Muhammad Fema won overall in debate, but other girls like Nafisa Abdullahi Aminu won in different categories.
“A huge congratulations to our brilliant students and their dedicated teachers for these remarkable achievements, we are very proud of them, as we are planning to celebrate them in our way”.
Rukayya’s outstanding performance in the finals gave her an edge over several other contenders who participated in the competition from across the world.
Her success follows that of Nafisa Abdullahi Aminu, also from Yobe State and NTIC, who was named the overall Best in the Spelling Bee.
Meanwhile, the Governor of Yobe state, Hon. Mai Mala Buni has approved a grand ceremony to honour 15 year old Rukayya Muhammad Fema and 17 year old Nafisa Abdullah for emerging World best in English language skills and overall debate competitions respectively at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals in London, United Kingdom.
According to a statement signed by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Mamman Mohammed said Nafisa and Rukayya, both from Yobe state, are students of the Nigerian Tulip International College, who represented Nigeria at the World competition to beat other 20,000 participants from 69 countries.
Nafisa and Rukayya are beneficiaries of the Gov. Mai Mala Buni’s scholarship programme covering full tuition for 890 students at the Nigeria Tulip International College.
Gov. Buni described the outstanding performances as a great honour to the state and country.
“These are great feats that makes us proud and justifies the government’s investment in the education sector,” Gov. Buni said.
