The Yobe State Government has urged stakeholders at all levels to approach the problem of water scarcity with renewed commitment in order to ensure adequate, effective, and hygienic water supply to homes and facilities in Damaturu and environs.
The General Manager (GM), Yobe State Water Corporation, Engr. Mahdi Baba Zarma harped on the need for all hands on deck by stakeholders towards achieving the desired goal for improved water supply in Damaturu and environs.
Engr. Zarma, who spoke during a stakeholders’ engagement with security agencies and borehole operators said there is need for renewed commitment to adhere strictly to the operation of boreholes in order to provide adequate portable water to the citizens.
He said the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni wants a renewed commitment from all stakeholders to address the shortage of water supply in Damaturu and other parts of the state.
The General Manager expressed concern about incidents of vandalism and tampering with boreholes and water collection points.
He noted that despite the State government’s commitment to improving water supply, these acts of sabotage are hindering progress of work.
