From Uche Uche, Damaturu

Yobe state governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni has expressed hope on the completion of the international cargo airport and said it would be commissioned in the month of May this year, “all things being equal,” he assured.
He made the statement yesterday when he inspected the airport and briefed on the progress of work by the project coordinator, Abubakar Gambo Yaro, who, while conducting the governor round the project site, gave the stages of completion of major sections of the project to be between 50% to 80% states of completion.
“I am satisfied with the progress of work so far…but you know sometimes, about delivery, timing and the quality of work is more critical than the finishing. I am made to understand they will hand over in the end of April, and we are expecting to commission this airport in May this year,” the governor state.
Earlier, the coordinator stated that the runway of 3.6 kilometer which he said is the largest runway in all airports in Nigeria is presently at 80% completion, perimeter fencing 100% completed, the control tower at 70% completion among others.
He commended governor Buni for his commitment towards the completion of the project which he said was responsible for the fast pace of work and the achievements made for far in the contract work.
