A delegation from the Youth Advocacy Campaign for the Accelerated Implementation of the Demographic Dividends Roadmap recently visited Honorable Mukhtar Zubairu, the Special Assistant to the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State on Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), to secure his partnership and commitment to the initiative.
This information was shared in a communiqué signed by Usman Idris Abdullahi (National Youth Council of Nigeria, Kaduna State), George Candidus Amos (Lifelyne Creative Company), Sumayya Abdul Hussaini (OGP TWG on Strengthening the Social Protection System), and Barr. Christopher Yange Atsen (Young African Leaders Initiative – Kaduna State), Benjamin Sheyin (Open Gov Youth Innovation Hub), and Waniya Ilu (Civic Impact for Sustainable Development Foundation).
The communiqué stated that the team, composed of representatives from various youth organizations, presented Zubairu with a letter of appointment, officially naming him the Kaduna State Demographic Dividends Champion.
They advocated for the establishment of a coordination mechanism with the Ministry of Youth Development to serve as the Secretariat, as well as support for the development of an implementation plan and a monitoring and evaluation framework.
Zubairu welcomed the team, accepted his nomination, and assured them that he would brief the Deputy Governor on both the meeting and the objectives of the advocacy campaign.
The team expressed appreciation for the warm reception and looked forward to collaborating to accelerate the implementation of the Demographic Dividends Roadmap.
The visit aimed to promote youth engagement and participation in the state’s development agenda, leveraging the demographic dividend to drive economic growth and prosperity.
