The National Youth Council of Nigeria, (NYCN), has attributed the increased insecurity and youth restiveness across the country to unemployment and called for urgent Government intervention.
The President of the Council, Comrade AlMustapha Asuku made this call Tuesday in Abuja during the inauguration of the new National Executive of Council of NYCN.
He further implored the Federal and State Governments to actively engage youths in appointive positions and through other empowerment programmes to reduce joblessness.
Comrade Asuku said that the council had developed an action plan to unite youths and sensitize them on patriotism and the need for being self reliant.
The Deputy President, Innocent Nduanya said the new executive would also work towards mobilizing youths from all parts of the country for effective youth participation in programmes within and outside the country.
