As preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum, a youth group in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), under the umbrella of the FCT Concerned Youth Network, has called on the immediate past Commissioner representing the FCT at the Public Complaints Commission (PCC), Hon. Ezekiel Dalhatu Musa, to contest the FCT Senatorial seat.
The call was made on Tuesday in Abuja during a world press conference addressed by the group’s coordinator, Hon. Danjuma Bala Umar, who said the youth network was united in its decision to support Dalhatu’s ambition, irrespective of the political platform he chooses.
Umar disclosed that the group was prepared to mobilize resources to purchase both the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for Dalhatu ahead of the 2027 elections.
“As a group of young people in the FCT, we are ready to work tirelessly to deliver this mandate. Hon. Dalhatu has the qualities of a good leader, and his past record gives us confidence that he will represent us effectively,” Umar said.
According to him, the group represents youths and residents drawn from the six Area Councils, nine indigenous tribes, and 858 communities that make up the FCT.
“We have converged here to convey a clarion call. We are the indigenous youths and residents of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. After extensive consultations across communities and careful reflection on the leadership needs of the FCT, we unanimously call on Hon. Dalhatu Ezekiel Musa, popularly known as MC Gida Gida, to contest the FCT Senatorial seat in 2027,” he stated.
The youth leader described Dalhatu as a people-oriented and grassroots-focused leader, noting that his tenure at the PCC was marked by advocacy for peace, justice, and inclusive governance.
“At a time when the FCT requires a vibrant, articulate, and fearless voice at the National Assembly, Hon. Dalhatu stands out as a leader who understands the realities of both indigenous peoples and residents of the territory,” Umar said.
He added that the group’s support was not driven by party affiliation but by Dalhatu’s credibility, competence, character, and capacity to deliver effective representation.
“This movement is peaceful, inclusive, and people-driven. It is rooted in the belief that leadership must emanate from the will of the people and be sustained by accountability, transparency, and integrity,” he said.
The group, therefore, appealed to Dalhatu to heed what it described as a “united and historic call” from the people of the FCT to vie for the senatorial seat in 2027.
“The time is now. The voice is united. The call is clear. Together, we can build a better future for the FCT,” Umar added.
