Former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), at the weekend, in New Bussa, Borgu Local Government of Niger state attended the wedding ceremony of one of the daughters of the Emir of Borgu, Senator Halliru Dantoro, amidst tight security.
The former Presidential candidate of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in the 2011 general elections and a National leader of the All Progressives Congress{APC} was cited by the reporters at Muhammadu Sani Memorial Central Mosque on Saturday in a sky blue flowing “babbanriga”, at about 2:09 pm amidst shout of “Sai Baba” by his numerous admirers, mostly, youths after he had alighted from an unmarked Toyota Sequoia (SUV) and closely followed by security operatives as he entered the mosque venue of their wedding fatiha.
The former head of state was ushered into the mosque by some security operatives, who were also chauffeur-driven into the mosque premises in a black colour Toyota Land Cruiser (Prado Jeep) marked “PATASKUM” on his convoy.
The stern looking security operatives surrounded the General and prevented people, especially the jubilant youths who were surging forward to touch and have handshakes with him while the shouts of “sai Baba” around the mosque premises almost marred the occasion.
Some clerics at the venue appealed for calm among the youths till the ceremony lasted.
At the wedding ceremony between Princess Hanifa Halliru Dantoro and Malam Hassan Zakari, a District head, was the Niger state governor ,Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly , Bar. Adamu Usman and his deputy Engr. Gambo Bello, some national assembly members and the Etsu Nupe Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, both present and former National Assembly members among others attended the ceremony.
