Youths protest rampant cases of kidnapping in Kaduna community

Youth from Juji community in Chikun Local Government Area of kaduna state yesterday blocked kachia road in Sabo Tasha of the state to protest the rampant cases of kidnapping in the Community.
The youth marched from their community to Sabin Tasha where they blocked the highway for close to an hour.
They set up bon fires for about thirty minutes preventing free flow of commuters before the Garrison Commander of the 1 Division of Nigerian Army in a convoy of about six trucks with armed soldiers, accompanied by Policemen from the Sabon Tasha dispersed them.
The youth particularly expressed dismay over bandits who invaded their Community kidnapping the wife of a popular medical doctor and his two children
The Garrison Commander appealed to them to go back to their community, assuring of adequate measures to protect them.
The youth leader of the community, Hosea Bawa told newsmen that they embarked on a peaceful protest against increasing cases of kidnapping in their area.
After they were dispersed, the Army convoy moved on to Juji were they consoled the victim, Dr. Philip Ataga, whose wife and two children were kidnapped.
Dr. Ataga while speaking to Peoples Daily said he received a call from his wife around 10:30 PM that some people are trying to forcefully gain entrance into his apartment.
“I called the officer in charge of the police out Post which is adjacent to my house; he told me he has informed Sabo Tasha Divisional Police Officer, who assured him of reinforcement.
“When I came back around 12: AM behold they have left with my wife and two kids” He said It was also gathered that a vigilante group member a student of Kaduna State University KASU was killed by the bandits.
The Juji Community had suffered a series of attacks resulting in the abduction of several persons.
The latest attack just coming a few days after a 14-year-boy and his mother were kidnapped.
Reacting, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yakubu Sabo, told our correspondent on a phone that he would reach to the DPO in the area for more details on the incident.
