You’ve failed Nigerians, Ortom tells Buhari

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has lamented over the deteriorating situation in Nigeria and called on President, Muhammadu Buhari to resign as Nigeria’s President with immediate effect.

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, made this call at a press conference held at Government House, Makurdi yesterday.

Governor Ortom who lampooned the President Buhari led All Progressive Congress, APC, administration for ineptitude and inaction in addressing challenges facing the country, said the country may go from bottom where it is currently to underneath.

Mentioning high level of insecurity and disunity amongst other challenges, Ortom said the APC government has failed the nation and therefore, President Buhari must resign and hand over to his Vice, Yemi Osinbajo.

“The APC led government has completely failed to fulfill the promises they made to Nigerians in 2015. I was part of the people who elected President Buhari and we worked very hard for it.

“I have no seen the level of nepotism that is done in this administration. We have never seen this level of disunity, insecurity and we have not witnessed the economy going down the way it is doing. People are keeping quiet but I have called the pressure to let Mr. President know that things are not going well in this country.

Ortom who noted that the primary responsibility of any government is security of its citizens, condemned continuous killings of innocent Benue farmers by militia herdsmen and the inability of the federal government to curtail them insisted that those who keep quiet in the face of adversity are also, accomplice.

“Buhari should admit that he has failed Nigerians and honorably resign and hand over to his vice to handle affairs of the country.

“His government is bare-footed, a lame duck and without vision, Anyone deceiving Buhari that he has done well, he is a liar. I am disappointed. Nigerians are suffering and committing suicide, yet people are praising him. Mr. President need to call Nigerians together. He should  convoke a national security summit.”
