The Yobe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (YSCHMA) has provided free medical services to more than 1,500 vulnerable residents of Gashua, headquarters of Bade Local Government Area.
The medical outreach, held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the Lawan Musa Primary Health Care Centre, offered beneficiaries free medical consultations, drugs, medical consumables and health education.
The agency’s Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Gambo Yusuf Bakoro, said the initiative was part of efforts to improve access to healthcare services for vulnerable residents across Yobe State.
Speaking during the exercise, the Executive Secretary of YSCHMA, Dr Babagana Tijjani, said the outreach was designed to bring essential healthcare services closer to people at the grassroots.
He said the programme focused particularly on vulnerable groups who may face difficulties accessing healthcare due to financial constraints.
“We are working to ensure that no one is left behind in accessing quality healthcare services,” Tijjani said.
According to him, the initiative would help reduce the burden of out-of-pocket medical expenses while expanding access to essential healthcare services among residents of Gashua.
Tijjani said the programme was also aligned with the health policy agenda of the Yobe State Government under Governor Mai Mala Buni.
Some beneficiaries commended YSCHMA and the state government for organising the outreach, describing it as timely and beneficial to vulnerable members of the community.
They also expressed satisfaction with the quality of services provided by the healthcare workers during the exercise.
The executive secretary disclosed that similar medical outreaches would be organised in other parts of the state in the coming weeks.
He reaffirmed YSCHMA’s commitment to addressing the healthcare needs of residents and supporting efforts to achieve universal health coverage in Yobe State by 2030.
