Bauchi: Yuguda appoints first female acting Chief Judge

From Ahmed Kaigama, Bauchi Bauchi state governor, Isa Yuguda has sworn-in the first female Acting Chief Judge for the state, Justice Rabi Talatu Umar with a promise his administration will ensure that the Judiciary as an arm of government remained independent and discharges its constitutional responsibilities as enshrined in the constitution of the country This was contained in a press release signed and issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Deacon Ishola Michael Adeyemi made available to news men yesterday in Bauchi The release said  the governor  swore-in Justice Rabi Talatu Umar as the Acting Chief Judge and explained that the move became necessary in order to fulfil the constitutional provision that there must not be a vacuum in the administration of justice in the state until such a period that a substantive Chief Judge will be appointed in line with the provision of the constitution. Yuguda, also assured that his administration will do everything administratively possible to ensure that the judiciary excelled, pointing out that the judiciary as an arm of governance must be seen to be doing well in dispensing justice to all manner of men without fear and favour but in accordance with all relevant laws of the land. Justice Rabi Talatu Umar is to act as the Chief Judge of the state in the next three months, when a substantive Chief Judge is expected to be appointed on the recommendation of the National judicial Commission.

She took over from Justice Musa Liman who acted in the same capacity for three months between May 26, 2014 and August 26, 2014 after the retirement of the Justice Ibrahim Zango from active service in accordance with the provisions of the constitution of the Federal Republic.
