The proprietress in charge of the Poorest of the Poor Home (Anawin home) in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Rev. Sister Oresoa Selo – Ojeme, has appealed to the minister of the FCT, Senator Bala Mohammed as well as government at all levels to come to the aid of the less privileged ones in the society, especially the abandoned children at the orphanage homes.
Making the appeal during an interview with Peoples Daily in her office in Gwagwalada, last week, the proprietress also called on the Minister to give priority attention to the education of the less privileged children in the territory.
She further urged the Minister to cater for the welfare of the orphans, so as to make them feel the impact of the government at their door steps, especially during festivities like Christmas.
She requested the Minister and authorities of the six FCT area councils to join hands to build orphanage homes where many abandoned babies would be kept for safety and proper care.
She called on many spirited individuals as well as highly placed individuals in the society to provide basic amenities across the orphanage homes in the territory, to enable the managers of such homes to carry out their duties diligently.
The Proprietress of the Home, however, appealed to the Social Welfare unit of Gwagwalada Area Council to work hand in hand with her in order to rescue a lot of disabled persons in the area.
