The Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, has called on Nigerian Christians to use the 2024 Christmas celebration to foster a spirit of love, unity, and brotherhood across the nation.

In a Christmas message signed by the agency’s Deputy Director of Press, Paul Odenyi, Issa-Onilu highlighted Nigeria’s long journey towards nationhood, urging citizens to safeguard the country’s unity amidst challenges of discord and division.

“Christmas signifies the immense love God has for humanity, as seen in the birth of Jesus Christ, which symbolizes unity and reconciliation,” Issa-Onilu stated.

He emphasized the importance of emulating the virtues of Christ, particularly love and selflessness, as a pathway to achieving national unity and the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of the current administration.

The NOA chief further urged Nigerians to display the spirit of selflessness and love that Christmas represents by praying for their neighbors’ well-being and the country’s stability and progress.

“If every one of us selflessly loves and cares for the next person, it will translate into a sacrificial love for our country and a genuine collective effort at national development,” Issa-Onilu said.

While wishing Christians a joyful Christmas celebration, the NOA Director General also appealed to all Nigerians to remain law-abiding and maintain peace during and after the festivities.
