Yvonne Okeke, Personal Assistant to Kaduna State Governor, Sen. Uba Sani, has provided financial assistance to vulnerable patients at Maitama District Hospital in Abuja by settling outstanding medical bills.
The humanitarian intervention targeted patients and families facing financial difficulties, including children, women and men who were struggling to meet the cost of medical treatment.
According to information on the initiative, the assistance was designed to ease the financial burden on beneficiaries and enable them to access or continue receiving necessary medical care.
Some beneficiaries and their families expressed appreciation for the intervention, saying the support came at a difficult period when meeting their healthcare expenses had become a major challenge.
Okeke said the Abuja outreach was part of a broader commitment to supporting vulnerable Nigerians, particularly people experiencing difficulties in accessing healthcare because of financial constraints.
She also plans to extend similar humanitarian interventions to Kaduna, Anambra, Lagos and other parts of the country as part of efforts to reach more people in need.
The initiative highlights the role individuals, public officials, private organisations and charitable groups can play in complementing efforts to improve healthcare access for economically disadvantaged Nigerians.
