Zamarr Institute, a learning ability Centre, said it is working to raise 250 million naira to address autism challenges in the Centre.
The founder/CEO of the Institute,
Khadija Katagum, stated this on Saturday in Abuja, during a walk to mark the World Autism Month.
“We want to raise 250 million for the Centre, but we also need money for sustainability despite having other plans.
“We also need assistance from government and other donors to help us run the Centre effectively.
Speaking further, she said the month is no longer about awareness, but acceptance.
“What we want is for our society to be able to work together and celebrate our differences.
“Let’s celebrate neurodiversity.This walk is being organized by Zamar Institute that is celebrating 20 years in providing special needs assistance.
“Zamar is 20 years old, we’ve been doing this since 2006 and so we want to plan for the next 20 year.
“Also we want a country where a lot of people with special needs will be contributing their quota to society.
“We are here walking at the end of the month of World Autism Awareness Month, World Acceptance Month to show love to everyone.”
