A solidarity rally organized by supporters of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid in Zamfara State took an unexpected turn on Wednesday after members of the crowd were heard chanting the name of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
The incident occurred during a solidarity walk held in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, in support of Tinubu and to celebrate the appointment of former governor Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar as Director-General of the President’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.
In a video from the event, some members of the crowd could be heard chanting, “Sai Atiku,” rather than the expected slogans backing Tinubu.
The development has generated attention because the event was specifically organized to mobilize support for Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
The solidarity walk was organized by the A.A. Yari Political Organisation in collaboration with the Shehu Movement Organisation and the Yari 774 Initiative for Asiwaju 2027.
The organizers said Yari’s appointment as campaign council director-general would strengthen the APC’s mobilization efforts and help move the party towards what they described as the “promised land.”
Addressing the gathering, the Zamfara State APC Chairman, Kabiru Moyi Birnin Magaji, expressed confidence that Tinubu would secure massive support from voters in the state in the 2027 presidential election.
Tinubu recently constituted his Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election and appointed Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State, as its Director-General.
The chant captured during the rally, however, has added an unexpected twist to an event convened to demonstrate support for the President’s re-election bid.
