Zamfara State Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle has in effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 has directed for the immediate closure of all routes leading to the state for the period of two weeks effective from Saturday.
In an emergency press conference at the weekend, Governor Matawalle said his administration was compelled to arrive at the decision to lockdown for the safety of the state.
“We have unanimously as Governors of the federation, reached an agreement that, we should with immediate effect, ban all interstate movements pending the outcome of the federal government’s efforts against the spread of the dangerous Corona virus” Matawalle has said.
He said his administration has provided multitude number of Covid-19 testing kits and number of health personnel as guided by medical experts to strictly monitor and ensure total protection of people in the state.
The directive as according to the Governor will stop movements across borders between Zamfara and Sokoto, Katsina and Niger states.
