Zamfara State has threatened legal action against Sahara Reporters, an online medium, for publishing a reporter that Zamfara State Government has provided armed bandits with Hilux vehicles which were used to facilitate attacks on innocent communities.
This was disclosed at a press briefing by the Zamfara State Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, Abubakar Mohammed Dauran. in Gusau the State capital Tuesday, He described the report as baseless, politically motivated and an attempt by enemies of peace to derail the laudable efforts of the state government and security agencies in dealing with the lingering security challenges in the state..
Dauran dismissed the alleged report, saying the Governor Matawalle-led administration had only distributed over 200 Hilux vehicles to all security agencies with a view to helping fight banditry and other criminal activities to end in the state.
“How could a reasonable and progress-loving government that has great concern on good-living driven issues in all ramifications, would now chose to encourage bad eggs whose intentions were to always fight legitimate livings in order to pave ways for the total break of law and order in the society.
“Governor Matawalle was once the Chairman House of Representatives Committee on security, the position which earned him more knowledge on how best uprisings, criminal activities, violence and or conflict could be amicably resolved as he visited and interacted with security experts across the globe.
“This had informed his decision as the Chief Security Officer of Zamfara State to aligned to the idea of engaging the bandits into peace talks which had indeed yielded positive results, multitude number of bandits had embraced peace and have been assisting security operatives in fighting those remained recalcitrant”, Abubakar Dauran stressed.
