The federal high court sitting in Gusau Zamfara State capital, has adjourned a case filed in by the APC Zamfara North Senatorial aspirant, Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi against the INEC, APC and the serving Senator, Sahabi Ya’u Kaura, challenging non conduct of primary elections as enshrined in the party constitution.
Presided over by Justice Hassan Dikko who took note on the absence of the two out of the three defendants involving APC and the INEC, ruled that the case adjourned to the 25th of June, 2026 for further mention when the defendants are duly served with court summon as well as the receipt of their response on the case.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the court sitting, a Counsel to the third defendant, barrister J.C. Shaka, said he appeared before the court and already presented the dismissal on the claim by the plaintiff arguing that there was no senatorial primary election in Zamfara North upon which his client, Senator Sahabi Ya’u emerged winner.
Also speaking, barrister Bello Galadi, a Counsel to the plaintiff, said the date was set down for mention which has been observed already, only that the court has adjourned the case to 25th of June when other defendants will appear and express their position on the charges against them.
“We still repeat our demand for justice before the court over the purported senatorial primary elections which produced the third defendant as a winner, the election was full of irregularities following refusal to respect the provision guiding the exercise”, Galadi has stated.
