The Zamfara state government has introduced newly Point Of Sales (POS) device that would facilitate the board of internal revenue of the state to monitor tax collections by officers in the field which was economically aimed at boosting internally generated revenue.
The Chairman of the board, Muhammad Mujtaba Isa, disclosed the development to newsmen yesterday shortly after closing ceremony of the training session of the board’s staff on how best they could operate POS devices for tax collections.
Mujtaba Isa informed that, the introduction of the device has become necessary following need for the manual tax collection system to be paste out due to amount of leakages that always prevent the rate of
anticipated achievements.
In his contribution, the director collection and accounting of the board, Ibrahim Abdullahi Nasir, was optimistic that the automation of the tax collection would no doubt ensure efficiency of the board’s
operation and all the same would boost tax payer’s confidence of full accountability.
He said the solution was provided by the reputable IT consultants (BizzDesk Global Solution) after being satisfied with the similar development in Niger state which had virtually improved internally generated revenue of the state.
Also speaking, the acting managing director of BizzDesk Global Solution, Aliyu Musa Aliyu said, the POS device is designed to send alert of all transactions in the field to a dedicated server at the IT’s office.
