Zamfara LG boss escapes lynching

Chairman, Gusau local government council of Zamfara state, Lawali Muhammad Mada, has escaped lynching by a suspected group of angry political thugs following his attempt to impose leadership of All Progressive Congress (APC) at the ward level.

Reports revealed that, politicians from five wards of the local government comprising of Wonaka, Mada, Wanke, Magami and Ruwan Bore were not happy with the decision taken by the embattled Chairman to replace the wards party Chairmen with his loyalists at the ongoing ward congresses of the APC across the state.

The angry thugs were allegedly assigned to attack the local government Chairman, should he continue any attempt to impose leadership of the party against the interest of voting system.

Hundreds of youths had pounced on the Chairman last Friday morning at the entrance of the local government secretariat. He however managed to escape with blood running on his head and abandoned his smashed official vehicle.

However, reports further unmasked that, threatening number of politicians in Gusau local government area have threatened to decamp to any of the opposition parties, as it was alleged that they learnt there are self-centered politicians controlling the affairs of the party.

Mada, who was allegedly working secretly for the interest of some political in the state, was reported to have exchanged words with a member state House of Assembly and Chairman, House committee on local government and chieftaincy affairs, Dayyabu Adamu Rijiya, over what he described as selfish interest of the Chairman to derail the party.

Confirming the trade of words with the embattled Chairman on the matter, Dayyabu Rijiya said, he confronted the Chairman in an effort to ensure justice in the process of electing party wards Chairmen to the best interest of majority.
