From Ibrahim Sidi Muh’d, Gusau

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) of Zamfara state has urged civil servants in the state to disregard the earlier salary table designed by the state government, pending the realization of the establishment of the new salary circular.

A communiqué issued after State Executive Council (SEC) meeting yesterday held at the NLC headquarters in Gusau said the demand for the implementation of Teachers Salary Scale (TSS), Tertiary institutions, Local government and all other sectoral salaries would be pursued by the leadership of the union.

The state council emphasised that, “The federal government should provide adequate security in terms of personnel and equipment to security agencies for the protection of lives and properties in the state and country at large.

“Also, the state government should, as a matter of urgency, provide social security and create more jobs to curtail youth restiveness”.

This is in addition to the demand for extending hazard allowance to other sectors as formally approved by the state government to firemen.

The communiqué further called on the state government to reconsider the skill acquisition programme and revive the institution, so that the teeming unemployed youth across the state can benefit from trades and crafts for self-employment.
