Zamfara State Police Command has announced the arrest of a fake Lawyer identified as Chukwuka Jude who has been illegally practicing across Kaura Namoda, Birnin Magaji, Shinkafi and Gusau local government areas of the state.
Parading the suspect at the Police headquarters Gusau on Monday, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ayuba Elkana represented by the Command PPRO, SP Shehu Mohammed, said the suspect was arrested while on the service in defence of his victim at higher Sharia court Tudun Wada Gusau.
The Commissioner further noted that, on the 18th January, 2022, Zamfara Police Command has received a complaint from the Chairman of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) that the said suspect was caught inside the higher Sharia Court Tudun Wada Gusau.
“The suspect was falsely acting as a lawyer to a client just as the Police detectives promptly arrested him suspect and brought him to the SCID Gusau for discreet investigation, during which it revealed that, the suspect has been putting appearances in different courts.
“To further supoor the allegation, the suspect in a bid to escape arrest and prosecution, offered the sum of N300, 000 as bribe to our court duty Police officer who instantly rejected the offer. In his possession, ID card of a fake law firm N.J Monyei & Co. Chamber, office stamp and letter headed of fake firm as exhibits”, the CP Elkana has added.
In the same vein, On 21st January, 2022, the Department of Security Service, Zamfara State transferred a suspect and exhibits for alleged conspiracy in the kidnapping of one Alhaji Yusuf Lawan Dare, at his residence in Gada Biyu area, Gusau local government area.
According to CP Elkana, the suspect, while undergoing interrogation confessed that, sometime in 2019, himself and his other gang members (now at large), conspired and masterminded the kidnapping of the victim at his house located at Gada biyu area, Gusau, in which the sum of Seven Million Naira (N7,000,000) was paid as ransom before he regained freedom.
