Zamfara recovers 83 more firearms

Zamfara State Government has announced the recovery of 83 more dangerous weapons being surrendered by the repented bandits which brought the number of surrendered firearms to over five hundred so far.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, Abubakar Muhammad Dauran while speaking to newsmen in his office, saying, the achievement was part of efforts by the state government on peace reconciliation.
Dauran, who stressed that all illegal firearms in possession of repented bandits would be surrendered as the state government, security agencies and leaders of the repented bandits have embarked on series of meetings with a view to witness the final receipt of firearms.
“Among the categories of the surrendered firearms were 63 AK47 rifles, 4 LAR rifles, 6 GPMG, 2 LMG rifles, 1 sniper, 1 G3, 3 machine guns and 1 rifle, these were addition to more many dangerous weapons earlier surrendered through the state government’s peace initiative”, the Commissioner has stated.
He further informed that, series of meetings between numerous repented groups of bandits with the security Chiefs under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police across the state were on going with hope to have a crime-free Zamfara soon.
The Commissioner said, the state is now enjoying relevant peace as all markets were operated hitch-free, and there were free movements for legitimate businesses in the state.
