The Zamfara state government, in its efforts to fill vacuum of shortage of the cadres in many facilities of the state health, has recruited 200 personnel.
This was contained in a statement signed by the chairman, State Civil Service Commission (CSC), Alhaji Ahmad Zabarma Gusau, addressed to the Secretary, State Hospital Service Management Board (HSMB), and made available to reporters yesterday in Gusau, the state capital.
According to the statement, the lists of the successful candidates that were interviewed by the Commission in the 2014 special recruitment exercise, were released, and offers of employment were shared to the successful candidates.
The statement revealed that the development was also aimed at reducing the rate of unemployment among the state indigenes, and subsequent approval of the state governor, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar for the recruitment of 1,400 indigenous who are holders of Degree, HND and ND,NCE as well as nurses and midwives.
The statement directed all the successful candidates to ensure they complete their documentation on or before the end of the week.
Meanwhile, the maternal newborn and child health coalition of civil society organisations in the state have applauded the state government for the recruitment of the 200 cadres of health workers in the state.
A statement, signed by the state secretary of the coalition Muhammad Namadi, and made available to newsmen in Gusau, however, expressed concern over the delay in the release of letters of appointment to the candidates that were interviewed in December 2013, saying that some might have secured appointment elsewhere as a result of the delay in the release of appointment letters.
He said the 200 candidates employed into the state civil service are inadequate, in view of the high number of health workers that left the state service due to low motivation and inability of the government to fully implement consolidated health salary structure (CONHESS) for health workers of the state.
