From Ibrahim Sidi Muh’d, Gusau
The Zamfara State Government has settled the inherited debt of over one billion naira owed to Kaduna Electric Distribution Company (KEDCO) as it expanded the mandates of the newly established Electric Agency to improve power supply to unserved and underserved communities in the state.
This was disclosed by the pioneer Executive Secretary of the Zamfara Electrification Agency (ZEA), Muzammil Muhammad Idris in an interview shortly after he assumed office Tuesday in Gusau, Zamfara State capital.
Idris informed that, Governor Dauda Lawal-led administration has so far freed the State Government from the debt which always stood as obstacles to the expected rapid development of the State Government.
The Secretary noted that, lack of energy in the state had impacted most key sectors especially health, education, security and agriculture.
According to him, the working plan and implementation strategy has already been drafted by the Agency with a view to achieve the 10 year Development Plan as developed by the present administration of Governor Dauda Lawal.
