Zamfara state government yesterday has announced its commitments towards sharing the whooping sum of 2.59 billion Naira to the total number of 259,000 women selected from the 2,516 polling units being fulfillment of the promise made to them by Governor Abdul Aziz Yari during the 2011 campaigns.
The state Commissioner of Information, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Birnin Magaji, who dropped to newsmen on the development, shortly after the state executive council meeting, noted that 120 women have been carefully selected from each of the 2,516 poling units in the state.
He also announced the plan for the setting up of the state’s 23-man steering committee, to be presided over by the deputy governor, Malam Ibrahim Wakkala, mandated to come up with modalities of the disbursement of the cash assistance.
The committee is also burdened with the mandate of setting the local government and wards steering committees with the impression to submit copies of comprehensive lists to the state executive council meeting for deliberation, after which resolution would be forwarded to the state house of Assembly.
Birnin Magaji informed that, the date for the flag-off exercise in Gusau, Gummi and Kauran-Namoda local government areas, to be performed by the state Governor, Abdul-Aziz Yari Abubakar, would be announced soon.
