From Ibrahim Sidi Muh’d, Gusau
Hundreds of youth from various political parties were mobilized yesterday by Gusau Youth Forum (GYF) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to storm the resident of a business tycoon and a political king maker, Ibrahim Ruwandoruwa to endorse his son, Isa Ibrahim Ruwandoruwa, who is eyeing a seat at the House of representatives come 2015.
Speaking on behalf of the forum, Alhaji Salisu Muhammad said, time has passed when somebody would be selected to contest any political position by those in power against the interest of the teeming populace that would be represented especially either at the two national assemblies.
Salisu, who stressed the need for those in power and the political parties to allow people to go for their choice, challenged that only community-based candidates that have knowledge of the needs of the people as well as those that contributed voluntarily to the development of the area would be allowed to run elections to seek their mandate.
Explaining the reasons for the forum to have endorsed Isa Ruwandoruwa to contest for the seat of House of Representatives, Muhammad proclaimed that the people of Gusau and Tsafe federal constituency have benefited much from his father Ruwandoruwa in terms of youth empowerment even better than what the state government was doing.
“The people of Gusau and Tsafe local government areas have taken the largest percentage among the staff of all the industries ran by Ibrahim Ruwandoruwa across the state, and it has been obvious that he singlehandedly introduced a number of programmes under which a high percentage of youth were empowered to the extent they were on their own”, he stated.
Muhammad further informed that the business tycoon has provided 48 scholarships for the indigenes of the two local governments alone, describing it as the reason to reciprocate the gesture by endorsing his son, Isa Ibrahim Ruwandoruwa as their choice to contest for the House of representatives seat.
