At least, 12 persons have been reported killed and two(2) others injured in a fatal accident that occured along Katsina-Ala- Zaki-Biam road.
An eye witness who pleaded anonymity narrated that the accident involved a commercial golf which was conveying nine(9) passengers and a Nissan private carrying three (3) persons, explaining that one of the drivers tried to dodge a small pothole and got involved in a head on collision with the other.
The witness also said that at the time of the accident, there was no death, but that people sustained serious injuries.
“The exact number of people involved in the accident is 12, four persons that sustained various degrees of injuries passed on while being conveyed to the hospital’, the source said.
The Public Relations Officer, Federal Road Safety Commission FRSC Benue State Command Steve Ayodele who confirmed the accident, said it occured at about 12:32pm on Tuesday along Kastina-Ala – Zakibiam road at Ngido village.
“It’s a multiple accident involving two (2)vehicles and it was fatal. 10 persons involved – four female adults, one male adult and one female child. Out of the 10, eight people died, four female adults and three male adults and one female child. Two persons were injured and were taken to Kastina-Ala General hospital for medical attention.
“It was a head-on collision; one of the vehicle was trying to avoid a pothole and ram into an oncoming vehicle. I guess it was as a result of over speeding otherwise they would have been able to manoveur their way”, the spokesman said.
